New Year’s Resolutions: Smoking; Weight Loss

Smoking cessation and weight loss–I’m killing it this year.

Some of you many know that taking charge of my health what my New Year’s Resolution and I’m well on my way to reaching that goal. It started with quitting smoking (that’s part of where this blog gets its name–I want a smoking hot life instead of a smoking ash tray).

I have accomplished that goal . . . almost. I quit “cold turkey” on New Year’s Day and I haven’t touched a cigarette since. One thing I learned was that it takes about 72 hours for the body to completely withdraw from nicotine. This means I’m pretty much over the chemical or physiological part of my addiction to nicotine and cigarettes. Cold turkey was the way to go for me because that’s just my personality. These past 72 hours have been tough, but I did it. There are still some psychological issues, like the habit of picking up a cig first thing in the morning or smelling the alluring aroma when someone else lights up. But I am slowly but surely overcoming that, too–and the urge to light us is becoming a thing of the past–good riddance!

And the way I am approaching this is going to be the way I approached smoking cessation–all out. My goal is to drop ten pounds within one month. Yes, it’s very possible, and no, it isn’t dangerous. I’m not diabetic and I don’t have any major health issues. So I’m going to try this diet that will help me drop the flab quickly: http://musclereview.net/3-week-diet-review/. It may make me miserable for a few weeks, but it cannot be any worse than getting over the nicotine addiction.

I will try to find a happy medium over the next few weeks. This is just a way for me to turbo-charge the changes I want to make.
